I’m looking to complete the toolkit in my ‘72 S and need to find the following:
- 10mm / 11mm open-ended wrench (999.195.012.02)
- 19mm / 22mm ring wrench (999.571.017.02).
- screwdriver (999.191.002.02) and
- NOS pack of 5 fuses (911.721.013.00).
Please PM me if you have any of these.

I doubt this is useful but this has been in my watch list a while.

But I can't bring myself to pay "wait 5 years for it to sell at triple what I paid" dealer prices.

So because my S was built in Nov’71, I’ve discovered that my toolkit is almost completely wrong / post Jan’72 (I wonder jf the first owner maybe lost or had the original toolkit stolen).
The Klein 21mm spark plug wrench is correct and I have bought a NOS P208 fan pulley wrench, Klein 10,000 volt flat head screwdriver and 19 / 22 mm “CHROM-VANADIUM” ring wrench.
I therefore need the following:
- DIN 911 SW 10 - Klein 10 mm Allen wrench
- 160 mm combination pliers with cross-hatched handles and chrome plated jaws
- Klein Phillips screwdriver with red plastic handle embossed "10000 VOLT W-GERMANY"
- 5 "DROP FORGED STEEL Germany" open-end wrenches with machined heads:
* 8 x 9 mm
* 10 x 11 mm
* 12 x 13 mm
* 14 x 15 mm
* 17 x 19 mm
- Basketweave vinyl bag with grey or tan interior
- 1 Porsche Phoenix 9.5 x 710 Fan belt dated x/71
- Small ‘Pudenz’ Fuse Pouch with 5 fuses
- Unused Porsche Towel with label "Made in Germany 100% Cotton"
Please PM me if you have any of these in good to excellent condition.
Thanks.

Maybe your car was shipped later, with the later toolkit?

Hi Rob
It was delivered 07/01/72 but was photographed in the Austrian customs compound in December ‘71 so I think it would have been supplied with the earlier toolkit.

My understanding is that toolkits were not shipped with (inside) cars but separately to supplying dealers. It is something that was ‘picked out of the box’ once a car was sold and dropped in the luggage area. Hence, there no hard and fast cut off dates from one type to another and sometimes no consistency with tools inside the roll in some years although what you describe is a typical (most often found) 72 kit.
Now you have to decide if you suspect the drop forged steel spanner’s had the large or small font and if your bag had snap clasps or buttons and if your pudenz fuse holder was a small maroon pouch or a clear plastic box with a sliding top and the towel had the large or small ‘Porsche’ font.
There are lots of repro screwdrivers out there (I’ve been caught out myself in the past) and the best way to tell is the length of the shaft inside the handle which is important as these tend to be high value items.
You also need the pliers with the raised cutting edge.
I have been open and honest about the kit I have for sale (years of each tool) but all the items are original and not repro.
Regards
Mike
