Hi. Currently rebuilding my 1969 2.0ltr engine. I've bought the engine rebuild kit from Design 911 with all the seals and gaskets etc needed. It has the below valve stem seals to replace but I can't see how they fit the valve guides on my heads? I've checked on Design 911 and they are definitely listed as valve stem seals for 1968 to 1989 engines.

My heads look like they have different seals on the valve guides. Any ideas guys? Got me a bit flummoxed. Thanks for your help. Wayne.

Those new ones have a nice stainless spring to snug the seal to the moving valve.
Mine recently came fron Design911, fitted, and have run great.
They tap on with a socket, nice seal.

Pull off one of the old ones and as long at the overall size is correct to fit to valve/stem etc it should be fine. Probably just an updated design.

I used a 13mm tall socket from a 1/4 inch socket set, which presses nicely on the hard shoulder of the seal, then just tap them on.

Yes, just pull it off with pliers, doesn’t matter if you trash it, just don’t scratch the inside of the valve guide.

Looks good

Just put a drop of oil on the valve stem when you assemble it so the collet grooves don’t risk scratching the inside of the rubber.

Thanks Gary. I've filled my oil can with Valvoline VR1 now so I'll use that.

My gasket set had a few clear very thin wall tubes included.
They have one end mounded with a smooth round end.
You slide the tube I've the valve stem collet groves an This protects the seal lip as you push the valve into position.
Neat, and works well.

Ahh! That's what they are I'll use those now!
