Hi all
It's probably been asked a dozen times or more but does anyone know how to get a Porsche build certificate so I can check the originality of my 70T targa

Its blue on the parcel shelf and has blue around the trunk and engine bay but I'd like to be sure which blue

I'm guessing its albert blue on a 70 targa

Do you not have a paint reference plate on the left hand side A post?
As far as I know there is nothing available from Porsche anymore in the UK. Stand to be corrected.
There is a back channel through a guy in the USA for information on a car's build. However, this information is only available for cars manufactured up to the 1969 model year.

Heard about this channel through pelican but as my car is a 70 model it's too new

Colour tag missing.presumably when the poor previous repaint was attempted

Albert and pastel blue were the standard flat colours in 1970. Pastel is light and bright, Albert is a bit darker than Royal blue, so they’re easy to tell apart. But you could also have metallic blue and Gemini blue as options and there were a few more blues as special order too so it’s not necessarily that simple.

This is the car as purchased with very poor paint but I wondered if the trunk area paint suggests a lighter shade of blue or is that just the fact that's it's only a light over spray in there?

I believe Karmann built 70MY 911’s were still black in the front and Porsche built were like yours. The colour in there was just a light dusting of top coat (and also inside the headlight buckets) over black. There should be a splash of black tar like paint on the shocker tops and the side carpets were glued on. You can see the glue residue on your inner arches. I would say that it looks original in there from your one photo. It’s hard to see which blue it is but a clean up of the smugglers lid with a close up picture would help.

Albert blue looks odds on favourite I would say.

Hi Matthew, the Trunk on a Karmann 70 MY car should be body colour. My very original, never been apart 10/69 built 70 car is a very similar colour to your car. Do you have rivet holes on the left A post.? My Karmann built shell has a paintcode sticker, no rivets. If you your shell ends up as the same colour you are welcome to my original paintcode sticker..... if i can find where i put it.

My car is currently in storage so I will have to go see if there are rivet holes or not.
When I bought it I was told it was originally Albert blue but the light over spray looks like a lighter colour than Albert

The back channel still works
You are unable (99% or so) to get an original kardex for a 70 car.
However - all the details available (incl colour) can be obtained, through a report, using Porsche information. Just read one of the various threads on the 911s site

As an aside.

My 11/69 built S also has a paint sticker as opposed to a riveted on aluminium plate. The stickers were used for a few months in production. Dave P ( Porsche historian) on early911sreg was researching this at one point to determine how long this paint id sticker was in use for.

Hard to tell from the photo of course, but it looks like my met blu car does under the hood.... Perhaps 324 although not sure if it was an option that year

I too think it looks more like Metallic blue or Gemini blue.
