Hi All,

At the front of the tunnel where you connect the throttle linkage there is a hole on the top about 3" x 4", is there some kind of cover that fits over this, and same with the slot by the handbrake that allows you to adjust the manual throttle piece on the throttle line. Can see anything on the PET.

Also the trims that fit on the sills, on the porsche catalogue it seems either 3mm screws or pop rivets, is that the case?

Hi Roger, ive never seen a cover for the tunnel bit, it is normally hidden by the carpet (carpet over). Im not sure on the sill trims, I have used both rivets and screws. Depending on the hole size (i.e screw loose). Im not sure exactly what would be original. I know some of the early cars had clear rivets, but IB's not so sure. Luke

There is no cover for the throttle adjust hole, or any "hole" except for the obvious gearbox shaft / inspection cover at the back end of the tunnel.

Not sure about the sill covers attachment method - good question - I'm guessing screws rather than rivets...

Do you mean inside the car or on the outside ?

What year/model 911 ?

Thanks all, the sill trim is the one on the 'step' that sits on top of the sill (underneath the bottom of the door)

.... and its a 1971 911S

White Plastic rivets.

If you mean the aluminium 'threshold strip' - part no. 901.551.419.50



- it's held on by raised csk self-tappers (3.5 x 16mm) ...

I’ve just bought those bits from Roger Bray and they came with a little bag of chrome self tappers.

I’ll be using 3M tape though and gluing the heads in place for the appearance as I’m not drilling rust traps into my brand new panels!

I was thinking the same thing, but am swaying at the moment towards not fitting the sill trims at all... my sills were not original, so I don't know whether the screw holes, or the sill cover itself, are rust traps, are they????

I was talking about the door sill plates, but same applies for the sill trim.

You need the door sill plates as they cover up holes in top of the sills.

The sill trims are terrible dirt traps but my theory is if I have unbroken paint underneath then it doesn’t matter. Dirt trap + drilled raw hole = rot.
