1987 3.2 Carrera Backdate project - Sladeys hotrod

Post by sladey »

Yep starting to get excited now.

I’ve got a new dash top in black to fit so the plan is to drive it home without front and rear screens in, and then fit the dash top at home.

Once I’ve done that I’ll get national screens to fit the front and rear windscreens.

They already dropped the rear one at my house because one of the connections had come away - so I could solder it back on before the screen was refitted. Done that now.

They’ve been good to deal with (it’s stuby on here) bearing in mind I wanted the front and rear screens removed from the spray shop, the rear screen stored, and the front replaced, with the refitting happening at my house when I let them know it’s ready

We’re done!

Except for the windscreens

I’ve got a very chilly journey home set for Monday morning with no front or rear windscreen - so I can fit the black dash top I’ve got at home.

Very pleased so far

To the point where I’m having second thoughts about the stripe - think I’ll get it home and try a few options before making a decision

Looks awesome get a decent front 3/4 picture and I’ll try and photoshop a strip on it.

Looks fantastic Mark :) .....

....I know you're famed for your stripes but my choice would be light grey (silver) PORSCHE script and you're done 8) ....

....whichever way you've done a great job :thumbright:

Congrats

You already know my thoughts... I think it doesn’t need a stripe

I think it looks great as it is Mark, nice job. I have to agree that a Porsche script in a different colour is probably all it needs. Maybe an orange stripe side stripe with silver script in between...? (Or the reverse of that)

Oops, thats my orange perversion showing itself again.....

Cheers

I’d go for the stripes, I’ve always liked the look of of your car both in its Silver and Blue guises.

I always thought Andy Lightweight's transverse stripe on his 356 was good, or none at all.
IMHO long stripes down the roof/bonnet etc of a car are all a bit 'Ford Mustang' or 'Mini Cooper' today...

Good chance to be free-thinking about a design?
