Does anyone know if there is anyone in England who makes lightweight valve spring tops/retainers please?
Failing that, in the EU or even the USA?
This is for a 3.2 1988 flat 6.

I ran titanium spring retainers and titanium valves in my drag race VW (video available elsewhere on DDK!) - big difference in valve spring life.

my titanium ones came from EBS racing in the US

Thank you, both in the USA, thus difficult lead times, tax vat etc etc.
I've asked Kent Cams as I have their springs if they have some.
Greatworth Classics also use USA parts, so I think I know where I'll end up...

Kent seem to make them for other applications, so I guess if a drawing was available they could make you a 911 set.

Graham been following your thread but I do wonder why you didn’t just get a list of everything you require, go to someone like EBS racing, ask for Troy, and get them to source all parts and ship in one go?
They will even write down value, if you take the risk, to reduce tax impact if you prior arrange.
They supplied everything for my 3.0 twin plug and 3.3 turbo twin plug normally direct to MB in past.

Not confident enough I know what I really need to do this engine.
Also, feel very much at risk of the USA sourced parts not turning up in time to do the engine and get it running before end March 2022.

Dougherty cams told me 6 weeks ago they would not get any cam blanks until Dec or Jan and there was a waiting list ahead of me.
Kent Cams made mine and delivered in 50 hours.

I've emailed Kent Camsthis evening to see if Andy there can help.

There is also themoney, can't justify just pouring money into this.

Anything like this, I'd not hesitate to go straight to the USA. I've just bought a crank, heads and crank trigger from the US, and in the recent pass bought suspension parts. All arrived in a matter of days, no drama. The suspension stuff from Elephant Racing and the crank trigger from the DubShop all arrived with no duty to pay and, in each case, took just two or three days to arrive courtesy of UPS.

It's not the time to ship it, it is the time for it to be produced.

Both these companies said they cannot get the manufactured parts, just like Dougherty Cams said, no casting until late December, 3 weeks to grind.

I will need 2 weeks or so to build this engine, but also as long or longer to get it tuned and working locally.
To be safe, 6 weeks.

So, parts arrive maybe early Jan
3 weeks to build the engine and install in the car
2 to 3 weeks to get it to run properly as nothing goes right first time for me.

That leaves me a month lee-way before the first hillclimb test day in late March assuming the weather works out (it has been cancelled due to snow before).

Anyway, these are simple parts, so if they arrived before end Dec all will be well, but I want to build the heads before that.

FVD in Germany usually have titanium retainers in stock.

Andy/Neil, thank you, will follow them up. I need a shop who sell Porsche parts, or rather machined to take the springs I have.
Kent Cams cannot help, all customers for the Porsche springs use the stock top hats.

Want to avoid the USA, so will see what they say.
Need to measure the springs against the stock 3.2 springs to be sure first.

which EBS retainer did you use please?
They have 2, 'German' @ 0.04Lb weight and aasco also @ 0.04lb though they say 0.4lb(!) A typo I think, so same weight, much more expensive.

The aasco parts only fit with the aasco prings etc....

Is it right I do actually need these caps for this high revving engine, or is it just some nice bits to use?

not sure, theyre just listed as valve spring retainer set for V-max springs , part no 930 105 421 TI VM

you need the valve side of things as light as possible and the springs as strong as you can get away with to prevent valve float at high rpm
