911T VDO oil sender

I understand that the non functioning VDO oil pressure sender on my 1969 911T is used in several vehicles. My questions are :
1. Can I use one from another vehicle and, if so which ones ?
2. Can the sender be serviced ?
3. What does the electrical connector do ?

Check the wires all the way through esp the earth from the gauge to the shell.
I think the sender is matched to he gauge for accuracy.
New senders from type911 etc for about £40?
That's what I paid a few months ago for my 73T.
They are sealed and very hard to get apart without irreversible damage.

1. It's the same as that used on 911s up to 1983, I believe – maybe later, too.
2. Sender is a non-service item.
3. The connector is connected to the 'G' terminal on the back of a VDO gauge.
