Oldest genuine original RHD porsche I know of is a 51 coupe . I know the story behind it and how it was ordered from the factory and pretty sure its the earliest .
...its not in the UK. Given the post war depression and the slight alergy to all things German in the late 40s I'd be surprised if the first number of RHDs didnt end up in SA , Aus and Sweden. (I think Sweden was RHD then)
heres some dodgy bloke sitting in the 51 coupe

Hay Hig
Dodgy bloke yorself by any chance
Now this is the stuff dreems are made of
I think the sweeds drove on the right up till very early 60s
I have heard about a few RHD 356s comeing in to the UK from SA.
So you will probably be right about it not being a UK destined car.
Where does this beast reside now then?

I a few years back restored the first AFN sold Porsche 356 (RHD) chassis no 51552,built '53.
But sadly its now in Australia!
The oldest we have in at the mo' is a 54/55 speedster.

Answers to some questions ...
....the 51 coupe was originally delivered to Oz ...Its Irradium green
YES the dodgy bloke trying to spirit the car away is yours truly
The SA 356 cars are, I believe, the first Porsches not to be built in Austria/Germany... they were assembled in SA.
I do know of an original 54 RHD speedster in Oz also. I believe it may be the first one but am not sure.

Other than that there is Darren's LHD red 51? or is it 52?
Then there is Dave's ( still rusting in Barn 51? Black )
Then Alex and Mine 54's Mine is the same colour as the 51 in Oz Radium Green. Then Bruce with his 55. There are two brothers with Pre-A's In Hants area and a guy in Surrey with a RHD 54 coupe as well. So they are about.
SA cars word of warning DO not buy from photo's see the car. I have seen some cars there in W/S's and in particular a Pre-A Cab and it's a pile of sh1t and it was fillered up to death with about 50+ plates and a washing machine case used to make the wheel arches as it had flared arches on before. And it's now in the UK as a shinny car. and it's a pile of cr*p.

Is that the burgandy one with the non-symetrical front wings that was being flogged on ebay last year? Bloody horrible...
(don't forget my pile of a '53... unrestored crinkly non-runner for 12yrs but oneday... oneday...

I think the 1950 at the top of the page used to belong to Betty Haig of Haig whisky, who was a bit of an early porsche collector . before that it belonged to my dad who says that it was the first porsche registered in the uk. I'm not sure if he is right or if it is the same car but if anybody knows anymore about it I would love to here from them.

dont know if anyone may be interested bu on page 51, Porsche Post, Feb 2004 (200th edition) there is a pic of a 356 like at the top of the page. Reg UUW14, it is creditied to ' Betty Haig's 356 with the turbo (car behind) outside the Hotel' in an article about a '75 Whately Hall meet.
Certainly looks like the same car in model and spec. (split screen)
