Whatever happened to Nigel’s orange / white / matching / not matching one?

I'm highly suspicious of the identity too, particularly because the vendor acts as if he knows nothing whatsoever about the car but the very first thing he sent me upon me getting in touch, was a photo of the engine number. I already asked for a photo of the VIN - he said he's checking the paperwork.Sam wrote:The interior and motor certainly look 74-5 Carrera. I’d want to look very carefully at the VIN stamp before parting with cash. But if it’s just been incorrectly registered as a 72 car at import (which isn’t impossible) and you can get DVLA to correct it that could be a bargain.
With the doctored engine number it feels more likely that it’s also got a dodgy identity though...

I checked the VIN on there assuming the digits have been mis-read as I hypothesise and it is indeed a white car known to come from Germany. Also, that car was rebuilt in 2012 which might account for the claimed 9,000 miles so the theory bears up for now.Sam wrote:Here are the known cars: http://carreramfi.com/registry/
Went to Paul Stephens who removed the '73 engine and fitted another 911/83 built on blank 7R crankcase. Was for sale at Paul Stephens in 2019 but I don't know where it is now.Sam wrote:Whatever happened to Nigel’s orange / white / matching / not matching one?

They were available in coupe and targa format apart, I think, for the 113 or so 76 MY cars which were all coupes and only originally sold in Germany and known as ‘sondermodell’. The impact bumper gurus will tell you that the three year 2.7MFI cars were about the same weight as the 73RS and so performance and experience was on a par with their predecessor. They have gained in value over the years but, as always, condition and history are paramount to get a good example. One of Ddk’s contributors has a beautiful silver example and as usual rhd are rarer than lhd.

After 5 days no vin photo. I didn't press for it as I'm not in a position to buy the car right now and I didn't want to waste their time.Guy wrote:Did the original car you posted turn out to be a '74 Carrera MFI ?
Do I detect deramping? Planning on snapping it up are we? Also, you already have one.Guy wrote:They haven't changed the description at all, so who knows what it actually is. Would take a lot of money to restore as well if it is a 1974 Carrera 2.7
