Are 1970 seatbelt captive nuts useless?

Despite having no inertia reels, my 1970 911T has drill holes behind the trim just to the rear of the B post, leading to captive nuts at industry standard 7/16 UNF, which have never been used. The captive nuts are visible from the rear wheel arch. However, the bolts I have (and presumably all such bolts) only go in two and a half turns. The thread is definitely correct and they go in sweetly but they bottom out really soon. That seems insufficient to hold the reel strongly. Does anyone know what's going on here and whether these are sufficient for the job?
There seem to be no other mounts, which I believe were in the original seats (aftermarket ones are fitted).

If you are refering to the captive nuts under the rear pop out windows then that is not the place for an inertia reel fixing. You can use those particulat captive nuts for a fixed diagonal of a lap and diagonal arrangement. However, given that you can't get a bolt to screw very far in I would not use them for seatbelt anchors.

My 73 has static front belts . Belt is attached to the recaro seat mounting frame the seat bolts to and shoulder height bolt on the back pillar. The ever is mounted on the other side of the recaro frame.

This is the bracket I refered to in another of your questions regarding seat belt anchors. This sits under the seat runners.

I don't think I have that. It looks like that part might be inserted when the seat is bolted in, to one of the following two spots, right?

As I said in a reply to your earlier post elsewhere they are fitted under the seat runners. You probably don't have that bracket and you require two per seat. They are available but can't remember where I obtained mine from.

That's right, I don't have those brackets. Those bolts I pointed arrows to are what my seat runners bolt in to, so if they were held by those bolts they would be under the seat runners.

.
The brackets (repros of which are sold by Carpoint in Germany) are 'angled' & 'handed' & bolt to the bottom of the seats under the runners/sliders ...
Part nos. are 901.521.043.00 & 901.521.044.00

In case this is of use to anyone, the captive nuts just to the rear of the b-pillar weren't as shallow as I first thought. Upon attempting to drill through the centre of nut, into what I believed to be the captive cage, I found the drill went an extraordinary depth and then the penny dropped - they have bolts inserted to them from the outside, which I presume are only there to plug the holes. Upon removing those bolts, the nuts were perfectly usable as mounts for the seatbelt reels.

You seem to have resolved the issue with the rear quarter seat belt mounts. However, as I have posted previously to you this is not a good location for a retractor reel. Retractors should be located low down in a vehicle with a running loop higher than shoulder level when seated. You may get your arrangement passed an MOT but then again you may not. Obviously your choice of location and your neck in the event of a shunt.

There may be some misunderstanding where this nut is located as the configuration looks pretty standard. I'll post a photo tomorrow.

Yes the location is a regular feature of these cars. However, I don't believe 1970 911s were fitted with retractor belts ( although Stretch may correct me) whatever the location of the anchor point.

That should be fine as the retractor is low down and you have a running loop high up on the B post.
The mounting for thr retractor reel is not a regular feature of a 1970 MY car.
