In need of a 1970 engine lid (currently has a later whale tail on). Are there any classic 911 breakers in the midlands?

COA says Completion date 04/1970. 9110123173. 1970 911T Karmann Coupe, so that makes it a 1970MY car, right? I believe I already have the grille because it's currently installed in a 3.0 RS fibreglass whale tail (possibly aftermarket) that was likely added to the car in the seventies. Not in an extreme rush to get the lid so eBay is an option for now... but as paint gets closer it may become more urgent! Incidentally, currently have none of the bits in the lid, i.e. upper catch/pin, lamps, rubber, anything else it should have.210bhp wrote:Hi Rob
Engine lids and accompanying grilles changed over the pre-74 years and Model Year 911’s often are misrepresented by the fact that they did not follow calendar years for production but from August to July. I have a few engine lids and if you are keen to get the ‘correct’ one for your 911 it’s first important to make sure you mean that your 1970 911 is actually a 70MY car. What was the date of production and we can nail down the lid and grille you need? Most lids fit most years so if you are not fussed about accuracy I can supply a lid and accompanying grille that works anyway.
As James says these are rare items now if you want a good original lid and it’s very unlikely any breakers would have pre-74 items on the shelf. However you may get lucky with an eBay trawl.
