Original Recaro 'ST' seat c/w original swb tilting base ...

I had been saving this for something 'special' but have to admit that building a suitable early 911 befitting of this seat is unlikely to happen now so am reluctantly offering it here for sale.
This is an original Recaro '1328' (actually part no. 13.28.00) seat - often referred to as a Recaro 'ST'.
This seat still retains its original upholstery - vinyl & cord - which is in amazing condition for a seat which is almost 50 yrs old.
There are no holes, splits, cuts or cigarette burns in either fabric (which is very rare to find) & all stitching is still intact/tight.
There are no cracks or signs of repair to the grp shell which is in excellent condition with only light surface marks - these shells were never perfect even when new.
Similarly the 'peanut' headrest (in matching vinyl) is free from any damage.
Attached to the seat (via a pair of later height-adjustable Recaro sliders with all four '3-hole' height adusting legs intact) is an equally rare genuine Recaro swb tilting base which still retains the original Recaro stickers.
This tilting base has been modified at some time in the past by cutting off the release lever & re-welding it to the other side (ie converting it from a right side to a left side base) but the lever is currently detached so a buyer could re-weld it to which ever side they preferred.
Theoretically this seat is correct for a '73 (possibly late '72 too) car but will obviously fit any '65-'73 911 or '65-'69 912.
I'm the first to admit that I have a bit of a 'fetish' when it comes to 'period' bucket seats (& steering wheels) & have owned a lot of rare seats over the past 15-20 years but the '1328' has always been one of my favourites & this is without doubt the nicest one I've had.
This is a 'one-off' opportunity to buy an original Recaro '1328' seat in amazing condition plus an original Recaro 'period' tilting base - I doubt you'll ever find another set-up like this - especially at a 'realistic' price.
Due to the weight/bulk of this set-up it is for COLLECTION ONLY - or I could meet a buyer within 100 mile radius of Birmingham for the cost of my (return) fuel (eg £25 max).
