DDK - Die Deutschen Klassiker

Having had my Targa’s Fuchs Wheels restored by MCE I need to add a set of new black wheel nuts.

There are two options are far as I can see.

1: Buy from the OPC circa £8.00 each.
2: Buy from a Porsche Specialist £4.20 each (direct not via eBay!!) I am told by one specialist that his are made in the same factory as the genuine Porsche ones.

Does anyone have any advice, or experience of the latter option.

I very recently bought a set from Matthew at Type911 - before I committed I asked him which he felt were the best quality.
He recommended the aftermarket ones, and I'm very pleased with what I bought.
Matthew has several on his site - either ask him for his recommendation or I can dig out which ones I ordered.

For some reason Type 911 were not on my radar! They do have a good selection to choose from, think I will go for the OEM quality and possibly add the soft socket. However is this actually soft (I used to have an Automotion one with a nylon liner which eventually wore out) or just the as per the new type Sealey socket (Walldrive) which was primarily developed to grip rounded off nuts?

What other soft socket options are there, if any?

I thought the only good soft socket is the 6 flat nylon lined one John.
The torque specified is really high for the nylon to tolerated repeatedly, but used 'softly' could last some time.
Another thing is to keep it clean inside as dirt from road on the nuts will embed to the plastic and graze the nuts over time.
Type911 have a great range, I would go with oem but would ask an OPC thier cost too with 10% off.
Type911 I would wager get them from OPC in the first place and markup accordingly?

The soft socket I bought is aluminium lined rather than nylon. I haven’t used it yet so cannot comment on it but it seems pretty good and was specifically sold for Porsche wheel nuts.

I have a full set of period (?), original (?), black wheel nuts from an old 911E I bought in the early 80’s and again 25 years later. They need a refurbishment to be a nice looking as new ones.

This would allow you to sit there smugly driving along knowing that your nuts are roughly the same age as your car.
-premium price obviously for this kind of detail which of course everyone will notice straight away.
