Door hinge Captive plate

Hi guys,
I’ve been trying to fish this thing back into alignment for a couple of hours now.
The threaded captive plate inside the A post that the top door hinge bolts screw into has come away from the back of the post. It’s driving me nuts.
I don’t really want to have to hack the back of the pillar open if I don’t have to.
Any info or tricks to solve would be very helpful. Thanks.

Magnet to fish it into position, drop of superglue to retain it while you gently get bolts into place or similar?

Yep tried the magnet. It wouldn’t come close enough to the post to grab it. I even had the super glue ready. It happened before but came back fairly easily.
I guess I’ll persevere.

It should have been captive inside a little box... weird.
Anyway if you have to drill a hole think about putting it on the inside of the pillar under the carpet and then using a magnet on a stick.
Best of luck. This maybe a tricky one.

MIG wire is great for hooking things like this....
Neodymium magnets are great too, and for butt welding too...
