SC cams

The engine in my 79 SC has just had an overhaul at GCR which included the fitting of 964 cams (can’t wait to see what they do to it). I understand that the standard SC cams work well in certain earlier engines but cannot recall which, does anyone know?
Thank you
Ian

Thanks Jonny, for some reason I thought it was earlier engines ie one in the 2.0-2.7 range.

.
From the SC models onwards Porsche switched to 4-bearing cams - the earlier models had 3 bearings.

From memory you can run a four bearing cam in 3 bearing carriers, but the much shorter overlap on the SC cams may not suit the earlier engines.

HI
the SC cams will not fit a early engine, the bearings are to big for the cam carriers, whether it be 3 or 4 bearing up to 1974/75, even if you change the cam carriers, the valves will be to-long

Thank you for the comments/advice. I will ask on Impact Bumpers to understand any benefits of SC cams in a Turbo. Appreciate the responses
