Hi All,

Although this is a first post.... as a long time lurker I will soon put up restoration thread for my 57 356a which I've owned since 1998 and has been sitting about waiting for me and various people to progress it since about 2001

Anyway that aside does anyone have a line drawing with dimensions and tube bend radius that would allow me to construct a copy of the factory 356 GS/GT roll hoop? I believe it maybe a bolt in affair with the main hoop bolting onto mounts which need to be welded into the car with rearwards supports which pickup on the rear seat bosses.

My car is a coupe and I'm not sure if there was a variation for coupe and cab or if said item fitted both?

Any details would be fab...

I suggest you go on n 356 registry. There is a thread about roll bars on there

It's Martin, we met many moons ago through Bill @ Dakota's and both came over to your place for an open house day when your convertible D was in bits, we were all much younger then!

How's your fleet doing


I think the details of how to build the GS/GT roll bar must be out there but I tried the 356 registry forum and it seems to be locked these days to casual browsers.

With all due respect Sir, as an ex-long-time Member, I would submit that that is a matter of opinion.

Was that necessary? Can you answer the roll bar question? If not please take your jab elsewhere.

Good to see you on here, I had a dig through my old photo albums and think this is the visit to my place you were talking about, I think it was back in 2001. Funny but I am just starting out on another Convertible D to replace the one in the picture that I sold some years ago.
I'm still in Epsom just in a different house (with a bigger garage/workshop), when all this madness is over maybe we could meet up again.

Hi I have an OMP bolt-in roll cage I can give you the measurements of. I have had it for years and never fitted so can measure whatever you want.

Not too sure if it's the same?

Nice Drawing but – The `Phallic Stubs` that the Roll Over Bar drops over extended through the Sill area to the bottom of Inner longitudinal – they were welded top and bottom and may have also been welded to the inner side of the Metal work.

I Photographed this area 30 + years ago but at the moment all my paperwork is in boxes in the garage (time to decorate) and I have no idea where to search.

I cannot comment on any other part of the drawing we always raced without a cage

The stub goes approx. 1/3 way down within the inner Long (Longer would be better, in my opinion).

The part inside the Long. is split along its length and is welded to the inner panelling

I do not have the time to first scan the Photos. and then frig around posting them
