Wanted: 901 axle stub sealing cap and clip

Hi everyone,
I'm looking for one of the caps / covers that seals the axle stub /drive axle on my 901 gearbox.
Its the one that looks like a bath plug as shown here, also need the clip but happy to take the plug only.
Its a pretty simple thing, if I had a lathe I could probably knock one up in 15 mins.
Please PM me if you have anything useful.
In the long shot that someone can help and will be at the Beaulieu Simply Porsche tomorrow then I will be there.
Thanks for looking
Andrew

Andrew, I was recently looking for those clips.
I found them in the States for a buck a piece but the 60 buck shipping put me off.
Eventually I used suitably sized circlips.
Can't help you otherwise. Matt

Andrew,
Rose Passion do the sealing plug, but not the circlip.

Have you tried Mike Bainbridge, he probably has loads of Input flanges lying around?
If not I’m sure
911 Hillclimber (Graham) could probably knock one up from your old one in a matter of minutes?
Ian

Yes I saw the same - so happy to use an internal circlip if I can't get one in the UK. Thanks for the post Matt - much appreciated.

Hi Ian, yes I had spotted that Rosepassion had a stock of remanufactured ones but at £85 each I think they are taking the whatsit a bit.
I could get a second hand one from the States but the £10 plug soon becomes £50+ once landed.
I agree anyone with a lathe could knock one up quickly but sadly I don't have one yet. Hint hint anyone
I PM'd Mike a few days ago but not had any response - trust he is all good - not spoken to him for a while.
Whoever has been at my gearbox before me fit the correct bung on one side but failed to fit a clip

, and on the other side fit the correct clip but then an aftermarket seal on the wrong side of the clip

.
Strangely it leaked from both axle stubs!
I started this process as my MOT man always points out that there is the slightest drip on the gearbox and tells me I should get it sorted. Throughout the year the car drips a few table spoons of oil onto my garage floor which isn't very much but I would like to fix it for good - just to prevent the telling off from my MOT man

Still looking - surely someone must have one plug/cap around somewhere?

Lifting this thread, but rather with a technical question as a twist.
The clips and seals for this type of cap still - five years on - seem to be NLA, and one needs to source from multiple vendors to get a complete set, if even possible.
Whilst researching, someone pointed out that the later flanges don’t have a seal at all in that location. Porsche apparently figured out that gearbox oil doesn’t leak past the flange centre bolt (as it is above oil-level?) and removed the seal completely. Am I understanding that correctly? Can I just disregard
this aluminium cap and seal and clip?

Hi dizzycap
the 901 box has open drive flanges and needs the seal to stop the box oil coming out into the CV joint, the flanges run loose on the cross shaft in the diff carrier, which is why you have a bolt and a "D" washer behind the bolt to stop the flanges coming off.
if you have the CV joints off, have a look in the end and turn the flange, the bolt will not turn with the flange, un like the later diff's from 1968 (model year 1969) box when Porsche started to change the diff carrier in the box, last of the 901 and then the 911 box (1970 to 1972) in the 2.2Lt cars through to the 915 on box's
regards mike
