Interesting to learn that people placing orders for new Porsches are receiving letters pointing out that it as there is no guarantee that cars will be delivered before December 31st, it is likely that a further 10 per cent import tariff will be added to the cost. One guy has just cancelled his order for a GT4 as a consequence. I wonder how many other people will have second thoughts over the next couple of months...

PCarsGB have had this in place for a good while now - know a few folk who've read the small print and don't like what they're seeing as it seems to go beyond simple tariff increases.

You are forgetting to add on another 10% for further currency depreciation for no deal.

In 2001 I bought a brand new U.K. spec RHD Audi TT through an Audi dealer in Germany. I paid £4k less than the U.K. list price for the same spec vehicle.

So is Porsche from a U.K. dealer currently the same price as from a German dealer?

Leaving Europe will cost us a lot.
I meant that some may cancel their new car made, say, in Germany and instead buy a 2019 model with a few miles on it for a known price.
CV19 and Brexit, quite a cocktail we have in front of this country, but I've just watched the 10 O'clock news...

Re Audi TT import. These were the days. In 1999 I bought a mk4 golf gt tdi in Holland. List price in UK £16975 with a £475 discount for a straight sale. Saved over £6k on the Golf and then bought a Bora with similar saving for parents the next year. I kept the Golf 10 years and sold for £3500 and bought it back last year for £120 but it's bloody rough now!

When the original GTI was launched in 1976, they were only available in LHD, and UK dealers weren't due to get any until the following year. The hot tip was to go over to Holland and buy one there, but spec'd with mph speedometer etc. VW tried to tell people that such cars wouldn't be covered by warranty, but the law said otherwise. They also tried to stop dealers servicing them, but that didn't work, either. It was only when the car was finally launched officially in the UK that this game tailed off. However, smart people soon realised that you could save around £400 by buying across the Channel – the same was true with Escort XR3s...
