Can anyone tell me what this valve / outlet next to the oil filler neck is for? I noticed the rubber bung that seals it had cracked so was going to replace it but wondered what the valve was there for as I hadn’t noticed it before.
Thanks

That’s a later tank by the looks of the cap. That is specific for an IB car and Probo part of their oil breather system / vacuum.
Is this your RS spec car ?

Hi James. Yes, it’s a 3.2 Carrera neck and cap on my car. I think you are right, there is a vacuum pipe on the 3.2s so presumably this has just been capped off.
Thanks

Interesting...the rep I once owned had a similar capped off 'thingy'.

I have a stock 1985 3.2 in my 73T stock 73 tank and all the 3.2 pipes connect to it.
No blanking off plugs etc.

Thanks. Looks like it was for vacuum pipes in a 3.2 application but not needed on an early MFI car.
