My newly rebuilt 82 930 standard car requires 4 new tyres
Anyone on here have any preferences?

What type of driving are you doing just road or a combination of road and track?

I will see what my friend has on his 930 but think they are Pirelli P7's which are the traditional route but I love the Avon CRZ if you do any track days? I have them on another car and they are super sticky but look period as well. Modern tyres I also like PS4's which I run on my 993.

I have Bridgestone S0-2 tyres on my 930. They give excellent grip and also look good/correct.

Worth noting that the CN36 and P7 tyres are N homologated by Porsche. i also beleive they were OE.

Its not about the money with these guys. I was suprised how many people were taking off perfectly good tyres, to fit the P7 and how much they raved about how much better they drove on the correct tyre. (If i'm honest i was suprised how much they drive them. when did you last see a countach on he road.)

I find the SO2's a very noisy tyre on motorways compared with continentals and Michelins.
Have them on the 964.

I can tell you about how much better a car handles with a tyre technology that suits the chassis design of the car they are being fitted to, compared to a more generic tyre design suited to a more modern tyre, but you won't believe me. and even if you did you would consider weather the extra finance justified the more period better handling tyres.

However if i just told you that the P7 was sexy, no one is going to argue.

P7 is sexier than SO2

Sounds to me that that would be very interesting!

As has already been mentioned, it depends a bit on what sort of driving you are doing. I ran my SC on Conti Sport Contacts for the first 12 years of ownership and was happy with the attributes. Then someone persuaded me to try some SO2s. The difference in grip was amazing. They also seemed to perform as well as the Contis in the wet. They wear out more quickly but the improved grip is worth it for me

But not been compared to the proper P7
