Having been asked to start a new thread on this I wasn't sure where to put it. Also, I don't know how to copy all the pictures and text as an expanded thread so if mods want to move it or work some magic on expanding it then I would be grateful.

What appealed to me about your mods wasn’t so much the weight aspect but that it neatly removes the earthing and connection issues for the bulbs.

One of my old housings has a bulb stuck fast due to corrosion!

Where did you source the holders and the rubber to close the backs?

Will need to be reposted on here by copying and pasting and re uploading the images - no magic available I'm afraid

The bulb holders came from somewhere like carbuildersolutions or one of the auto electrical suppliers. The holders are then bonded into a piece of steel tube. The rubber backs are simply furniture feet with a hole drilled in the end.

It takes a while to do them but they end up better than the original design IMHO
