Hi, Has anyone used a Patrick Motorsport aftermarket oil tank on an 914-6 conversion?
A Mate of mine has fitted one and has found that it takes a lot more oil than the normal 9ltrs to even register on the dipstick!
Has anyone else had this problem? and can overfilling with oil cause any damage? (the engine is a 2.0T)

You are checking the dipstick when the engine is fully warmed up?

.
According to Patrick Motorsports' website, their 914-6 dry sump oil tank has a capacity of 8 quarts.
1 US quart equates to approx 1.66 pints which means that the tank's capacity would be just over 13 pints.

Thanks Andy, so 9Ltrs = 15.84 imp pints when put into the engine (with no additional oil cooler fitted), at normal operating temp the Patrickmotorsports tank should have some reading on the dipstick wouldn't you think?

I would have expected it to, yes.
Did the oil tank come with its own specific dipstick ?
If not, what dipstick are you/is he using ?

Yes the dipstick was supplied with the tank along with the filler tube and cap, i'm beginning to think along the same lines as you, have they supplied the wrong dipstick?
I will check it with my genuine one, wether that will prove anything or not as i have the factory tank on my car.
Thanks for your suggestions anyway
Cheers Maurice
