Hello from DDK newbie Steve aka Geordie 71
Born near Newcastle in, you guessed it ...71 …..but being living down south for 20+ year ...with 11years in the US in the middle
Been into Porsches for 15 ish years - will post photos of current cars below
Known Paul Stephens and Sam for almost 20 years ..before either of them were anyone and before I could afford a Porsche
and now working with 73SJM in Cambridge
I have mainly had 997s ….. but now that just imported my 89 3.2 from USA and my new years resolution was to stop wasting my life on facebook, decided now is the time to join DDK for some air-cooled goodness
I have met some of you before when tagged on to Spa trip with Sam a couple of years ago - met a guy from Yorkshire; a guy who swore a lot; a tall guy; a guy from ?Sweden/Denmark/Norway etc and a guy with a black fiat v8 …. assume you are all on here so pls say hello
My 89 is currently in garage at Paul Stephens getting some love and attention - she is a beater who has had a hard life in the US as an ex track day and autocross car ….but the plan is to put some money into her to make her mechanically solid and then slowly do her up over next few years to a half decent, but not show quality car. I change my mind everyday about back dating or repainting her, but will aim to drive her this year before make any big decisions. I have just paid deposit for CLM2020 and plan to drive down in the 89 and then spend the following week mooching around south france and or northern spain
I also used to own a Ravenna Green 914 which I bought from Sam which i believe her bought from someone from DDK. It was a great little car ….. but needed too much work for me ….. and when I saw the 63 Karman Ghia hotrod at Type 2 Detectives on a vw maintenance day, I fell in love with the KG instantly and had part exchanged the 914 against it before lunch …. take a look at the KG below and see what you think ….
I paid my membership before xmas, so looking forward to getting access to all areas of the forum and getting more involved with DDK
