So... getting some miles on my 912, i've noticed that first and reverse are offering some resistance when being selected resulting in the occasional crunch. Other times they slip straight in without any fuss.
I've replaced and lubed my shift rod and bushes, i'm thinking next steps to adjust clutch and have a play with how everything lines up...
Any thoughs or words of wisdom?
Kind regards,
Ollie
Intermittant crunch into 1st and reverse
Re: Intermittant crunch into 1st and reverse
Try these... in order.
1) adjust clutch cable.
2) replace gearbox oil
3) replace syncro “brake bands” & possibly a few other things while you’re “in there”

If just 1st / reverse then 90% chance it’s just the clutch adjustment

Clutch adjust and set clutch peddle stop??.....my 356 does this when its warmed up but i know the gearbox pretty worn.

Thanks folks! Will try clutch adjustment first.
Probably due a gearbox oil change so wil add that to my 'to do' list for the winter.
Cheers!

If you don't know when you last changed the gearbox oil I would do that regardless of whether you adjust the clutch or not. Only takes 30 mins and cost £24 for the oil.Ollie wrote:Thanks folks! Will try clutch adjustment first.
