I seem to recall that this car used to belong to a DDK-er ?

I had a silver one some years ago ( when they were fifteen grand ! ) - enjoyed it but can't remember it being that fast ( and had a bit of turbo lag !)

Yep, mine for a couple of years at 40,000 miles. I bought it out the Anthony Bamford collection and prior to that it had been one of Lord Mexborough's.
It had a very original interior and in my ownership I did all that was needed mechanically, so it was spot on.
CGT's suffer from the fixings bolts that hold the rear flares to the wing rotting which then stresses the fiberglass around the joints and makes them look crap, so they were all done and repainted. At the same time had the red Carrera decal to the front wing top done in paint, as well as the one on the rear panel.... as you do.
What we didn't do however when we repainted the rear flares was try to match the appalling orange peel in the original black, I think a testament to the standard of paint on the VW production line at the time. You can see it below above the flare.
Apart from the orange peel it I sold it on as it didn't really do it for me, not an engaging drive to throw around due I'm sure to the near 50/50 weight distribution, especially coming out of a potent early 911. Having said that, it is a quick car, deceptively so in fact so it can catch you out. That is off course once the turbo kicks in, which takes for ever, to the point of being fun though as you play games guessing when the power might appear, eins.... zwei.... drei...ah there it is!
Great condition when I sold it but no idea what it's like now. I know it did go into another collection where I'm told the wealthy owner had an engine rebuild done for some reason, but don't take my word for that.

Unquestionably one of the most collectible Porsches and certain to hit £100,000 in the not too distant future.
Nice of the dealer to underwrite certain growth of near 50% in a slowing market. £70k feels a lot when they were £30k not that long ago but somehow still quite good when folk want more than that for any old 930.
I do like that car.

.
I owned a (RHD) silver one almost 30years ago.
Quite quick but I found it too 'clinical' - a bit like being in an inter-city passenger train with minimal driver involvement.
The interior (particularly the dash/instruments) felt 'dated' even back then ...
