Quiz- comparing oranges to oranges not lemons

Post by 210bhp »

Prompted by Brian’s thread asking about early 911 orange/yellow/red colours or similar here’s a quiz for you.
These are all original Porsche colours but can you name them one to ten.

Great Andy. I don’t have number nine as Bahia. It’s a rare colour for an RS but perhaps not the best photo. As far as I’m aware number six is the only car ever made in that colour and it may well have more than one name (as most do) and I don’t have it as light red but was told another name by the owner. I took that photo at CLM (2006?). Otherwise you are spot on.
Any other ideas for six and nine?

Regards
Mike

Actually Mike, I think I took that picture of the 'Light Red' car - it was at the early Porsche meet at Beaulieu in 2005 !

Here's my picture of the nsf shot on the same day:

The owner at that time told me the colour was 'Light Red' ...

Is the red RS one of the 4 supplied in 'Raspberry' ?

I think you are right Andy. The light red car was told to me as ‘coral red’.
Yes, the RS is one of the raspberry cars.

Quiz- comparing oranges to oranges not lemons

Great colour selection, well done Mike!

KGY 7K was camping at LMC 2006 in Maison Blanche campsite, I think.
Not with us DDKers, but just across the way over with the 356 group.

I met the owner a couple of years later, boarding the Dunkirk ferry, en route to Spa 6

Yes James, that’s definitely where I saw it in 2006. I must have just confused my photos there with Andy’s at Beaulieu. I’ve never seen or heard of it since.

Keeping the citrus theme nice and zesty, here are four oranges we saw at the Oldtimer GP today:

Never seen this shade before. It's orange, but with a unique and distinctly peachy hue to it:

Are these all original 914 colours James? There are some fabulous hues there which look wonderful even though they are all subtly different.

It reminds me of a picture in the RS bible of three orange cars together which is equally brilliant.

Maybe I should do a green thread?

Mike

Today was overcast, and the weather forecast is for sunny weather tomorrow.
So I'm hoping the same cars will be there again, and to be able to capture the colours better in warmer light.

Not sure if all are original 914 shades: that peachy orange car certainly had us flummoxed...
