Hello,

a new member from France, living in the vicinity of Versailles.
A retired executive of the Mobil Oil Group - International Division – Europe region.

During my long career with Mobil I had the opportunity to work in England, first in 1977-1978 in Central London-W11 and then in 1991-1992 in West Sussex at Copthorne close to Crawley. With Mobil I worked in the Accounting, Audit, Finance & Computer systems fields. I’m sure that The Mobil Pegasus emblem is familiar in this forum. A former member of the Campden Hill Lawn Tennis club in Kensington & Chelsea London Borough. My pseudo BLD is just an acronym made with my initials. 19 stands for the last two digits of 2019, my year of registration , and A to itemize within 2019. I have three daughters , one of them living in Central London close to Belsize Park. Incidentally I am the grand-father of two lovely french-english little girls as they were born in London :cheese:

A Porsche fan since 1967, with a 912 coupé as a daily driver in 1976-1977, a 912 Targa since 2011 imported from the USA and a 356C coupé since 2015. Both cars were exported new from Germany to California. I am - thanks to Max Levell - one of the french correspondants of the US 912 registry magazine, registered with The Samba US forum, a member of the french Club911.net forum & a member of the french Karmann-Ghia forum as I am restoring a 1961 coupé. I also have a californian convertible Super beetle which I bought in Chichester in 1992. Hence a flat-four air-cooled engine fan. In France as you may know we have the 2 cv Citroën & the Panhard-Levassor as air-cooled engine cars.

With your german name using the Google search engine, I would never had guessed that it was an UK Classic Porsche forum. But thanks to one of your former member advertising at present on E-Bay for a 912 165-15 tire sale I am now registering.

I am joining at present mainly to search for Porsche classic spare parts in UK, and my first post will be a list of the parts I am looking for, some specific to RHD. I have also in the pipeline a post “ My Porsche story” starting in 1967.

I am pleased to join this british classic Porsche fan club.
BLD

Great to see another 356 owner. Mines nearing the end of extensive restoration at which point I’ll also be looking for loads of small bits too.

Look forward to pictures etc.

Hi Ant22,
well on the 356C there is very few additional restoration to perform, just some minor details. The June 1969 US 912 Targa is in progress. The last digits of the VIN are 722 . Only 801 were built in 1969. I keep it with the US spec, Californian state. I am preparing it for the french MOT, implemented very late as compared with the UK : it was compulsory only in 1974. We ( the french) have now a specific registration for collector's car, 30 year old minimum, and the french MOT in this case is less tedious. It has been deleted for cars built in 1960 and before. For instance I can keep my US sealed beams, because the US are driving on the right side of the road. I can keep also all the US special electrical lightening. If you drive in France and see a car with black plates it is a Collector car. The word you use success is nice : it is right that sometimes you have successes but sometimes you are so much disappointed :( and first of all you have to be patient.

I'm thinking of opening an account with flickr & then giving the link in this DDK forum. There is perhaps another method ?
Thanks for your help.
