Polopolus Engine in a 912

Hi I wondered if anyone in the UK has fitted a Polopolus engine in to their 912.

I spoke to Dean Polopolus and he said he had supplied an engine to a 912 owner over here and wondered if they were a member of DDK and had any feedback. I know they are mentally expensive but I am thinking of going over to see Dean combined with a holiday and chat through him supplying an engine.

Many thanks

Mike

Would it not work out a lot less mental expensive to put a 911 engine in a 912 ?

Hi yes it would probably be cheaper but the advantage is that you retain the lower weight and the engine still sits 6 inches further forward so you maintain the 912’s better balance with the power of a tuned 2.7 six cylinder engine.

The Polo website looks great doesn't it ! There's a 912 featured.

http://www.polomotor.com

...which also looks great.

Edit. How much do these engines cost ?

Hi yes the 912 does look great and provides fantastic power delivery. I’m hooked for one and will be going down this route.

Saw Mr RUF’s 356 when visited and they had built a cut down 911 motor to a 4 cylinder for it 8)

Yes hoping to have a look at that when I go across but think I will stick with the normally aspirated Polo engine

Thanks

Mike

Found it !

Here we are.

No doubt there will a few body/engine mount mods required,

but it would be great to have the first one in the UK.

Sorry, but that's not a Polo engine - it's an aftermarket VW (Pauter or similar)...

Don't worry Keith, I'd imagine he was being facetious
