Thermostat went bang.

Managed to remove couple of fittings.Plenty of heat..This one didnt want to play.You dont want to see the bar that was attached to my 50 year old Britool ratchet when it popped!
Now this ones toast,am exploring other stat options.Original "Trombone" lines will be replaced with later type cooler.Braided or ally lines.Mocal supply some modern thermostats.Just wondering if anyone has experience of them?

Broken thermostats are quite common and it clearly needs replacing.
A 911 oil thermostat is quite complex compared to a simple Mocal Unit as it also contains a By-pass function which means that in the event the oil cooler loop gets blocked and cannot pass oil, the bypass valve opens allowing oil flow and protecting your engine from oil starvation.
I don't believe a typical Mocal Unit provides this capability.
I also see that you are planning to braided hose which may present some issues.
If you install the hose externally it will pick up road dirt and debris which may then chafe the rubber of the hose which could ultimately fail but even this doesn't occur it may well look scruffy after a relatively short time.
If you try to fit it into the sill it is possible that there won't be enough space for 2 x -12 hoses and routing them into place could also be tricky and some of the bends may need t be quite tight.
You will need to confident that the hose doesn't kink in operation as there is a suction pressure in these hoses which tends to make them want to collapse.
