I can't get my left rear soft brake hose off. The 11mm nut is rounded. I've tried wd40, heat, knocking it. Plus holding it with a set of pliers while trying to turn the 17mm side bit this has just made it more rounded. The otherside is stuck in the 3 way junction so it coming loose either!

Got it off after a call to Ben and applied more heat.

Now to get the hoses out of the clips and new ones back on

Now I'm feeling stupid. How do these fit together? Pressing or screwing isn't working!

Looks like a quick release airline connector. Slide back the collar on the female socket. It might be spring loaded. Usually is

Pull the outer collar / ring on the right bit back (away from the end). Press the left bit in (keep pressure on) & release the outer ring on the right bit.
Does that make any sense at all ?

The hose ends are probably just pushed into the clips but have jammed with rust. A twist using the 17mm wrench should free it off.

Get a decent quality brake line wrench (has 10mm on one end and 11mm on the other). It holds more sides of the 11mm nut. It slips over the narrow pipe then slides onto the nut. Not just two sides like with a regular open spanner. A regular spanner will almost always round the nut unless it is fresh.

When you pull on the nut you need to use light pressure to prevent rounding. You get a feel for the amount of torque. If that isn’t enough, you apply a little heat and try again. Still not enough, more heat. At some point you are boiling the fluid so you will need to replace the fluid (will need bleeding anyway).

If this still doesn’t get the union nut moving... before it rounds off. Last option. Cut through the brake line with snips and use a 11mm deep socket. However, now you need a new brake line.

Have you got a length of brake line, a bunch of spare brass unions, a pipe cutter and a brake flaring tool?

All back together now. Pressure tested and the soft to hard junction I had so much trouble getting off was leaking when I put the new soft hose on. I tighten it up and that fixed it. The Sealey pressure bleeder is a good piece of kit.

Took for a quick test drive and I think better but a longer drive is needed
