LED taillights

Post by KS »

Thought I'd post this here rather than bury it in the 914 section as it may be of interest to others importing cars from the USA who wish to retain the all-red taillight lenses.

Using LED bulbs from HorizonLEDs, amber for the turn signals, red for the brake/tail, this is the result:

Look good Keith.

I used them on the front behind Italian clear lenses and they were very effective, and counteracted the deterioration of the front indicator housings which my platers couldn't redo

They look great Keith, are you able to confirm specifically which ones you ordered?

Correction! The amber lights you want for the indicators with red lenses are 1156/BA15S/P21W- CREE

The 'CREE' part is important as they are the ones with the lens on the end to focus the light better, allowing it to shine through the red lens.

Yes, and chrome spray paint for me! I think they are a Bakelite type substance hence the limited restoration methods...

Plumbers use an adhesive foil tape for wrapping pipework quite thick!
