I was offered a Silver 2.7 Carrera by LMP that, at the time, was owned by Frank Sytner (if memory serves). I balked at the asking price of £50k and it sold to, I believe, David Clark of Taylor & Crawley.

This was all mid noughties so I'm stretching my memory here - could easily be the other RHD Silver Carrera.

Keith - AFAIK the Euro/UK 74 carrera didn't have a ducktail and came with a whale tale, also front antiroll bar & controll arms different to the 73 carrera - pretty sure rear setup was same as 73 - others will know, Nice car in my opinion although I'm not a fan of silver....

Ducktail was still an option in '74 but the whale tail wasn't available on the Carrera 2.7 until 1975 (it only appeared on the 3.0RS in 1974). But they most definitely both had Bosch MFI...

Looks lovely and a lot of car for the money.

This is 'the other' silver 1975 coupe, not the Taylor & Crawley one. I haven't seen it in the flesh but I believe the current owner is quite meticulous and it certainly looks good in the photos.

There is as usual though a bit of poetic licence with the production numbers. There were a total of 61 UK supplied coupes (40 in '74 and 21 in 1975) Along with the 2 silver ones in 1975, there were 3 supplied in Silver by AFN in 1974 along with 2 supplied in Germany but to UK spec. (Ferry Man's Lime Green '74 was one of the originally silver ones.)
Along with 32 RHD coupes supplied to Australia and a few to Hong Kong the total RHD coupe production was about 100.

An interesting geeky point is that the ducktail was not fitted to metallic colour cars as Porsche were not happy with the colour match with the steel body and fibre glass spoiler. For 1975 however it was deemed OK as whale tails were fitted to metallics.

The first whale tail of production appears in the turbo prototype of 1973, the first in series appears in the 3.0 RS (March 1974) and is the big wing.

In MY1974 (from September 1973) the duck tail is standard for Carrera, until the launch of the turbo in mid-1974 (MY75) whale tail (narrow wing) is standard for the Carrera.

Even in MY1975 duck tail is optional only for the German market (a special order), for all others markets MY1975 whale tail is standard, no option duck tail.
From MY 1976 whale tail for all markets.

Wow...I hadn’t realised how few RHD coupes were made..!...and I went and modified one of the 40 from ‘74 as well....

Could have sworn it said unsold last night? Maybe they did a deal after the auction then?
