oil cooler pipes - MY72 S

Does anyone have a photo of the 2 rigid pipes that go from the oil tank/oil console area in the rear wheelarch along the sills up to the oil cooler radiator in the front wing for a MY1972 S.

I had both fitted to my car when it arrived: One was the original brass tube with all the appropriate curves, the other and was a collection of pipe 'sections' - presumably salvaged from the original which had been beaten to death - but joined by rubber hoses and jubilee clips. So i have no idea what the second pipe actually should look like other than from the PET diagrams where it looks very like the other one with a horizontal section that goes under the sill, a vertical bit that runs up the inside of the front wing and an arched bit that runs over the wheel arch and connects to the radiator.

I ordered the missing pipe from a supplier and they have sent me what i believe to be the wrong pipe although it has the correct part number on according to the PET. However, it looks nothing like what is in the parts diagram and does not largely follow the front profile of the correct pipe. I doubt it would even fit my car which i can only check when i collect it from the trimmer shop tomorrow

Apparently, Porsche (for it is an original porsche part) 'never make a mistake' according to the supplier and so now it seems i have to prove what i have is not the right part. It is hard for me to effect a photographic comparison with the original as i dont have an original.

So does anyone have a photo of the 2 original pipes either off the car or in situ so i can send it to the supplier and they can correct their error.

Thanks

Andrew

Hi Andrew,
You might find a couple of useful pics here:

Doh... sorry, yours are external.
And being a '72 you have a completely different oil console area etc...
Please ignore!

Andrew, I have installed repro steel external oil lines on my 1972. The PET diagrams and illustrations are in many cases approximations so can not be relied upon as a definitive guide. From memory the profiles of the two pipes are slightly different to each other as they do not run parallel in the sweeping curve under the front wing. I realise that this does not replicate your situation as you have one original pipe. I will try and provide a picture in the next few days and this may throw some light on the situation for you.

If it helps, there are some good diagrams of all the early car systems in Bruce Anderso's Performance books that show all the pipes.
