Hi Everybody,
Recently bought an "ebay restoration" project - hoping I don't regret it... any help and advice much appreciated as I attempt to start down what will likely be quite a long road against the usual time (Still in harness with a day job) and budget constraints - I can supply labour and am an engineer, but I don't have full workshop facilities and the necessary practiced welding skills / specialist knowledge for restoration of old Porsche shells required.
Intend to keep the car / have as a retirement project - had similar car previously that I regretted selling for little money... that was at least a working / running car.
Link to car for pictures...

First step is to get the car stripped down and then all the rust removed so it can be welded by suitable expert on a jig and the metalwork / panels replaced... think the panels will all need replaced along with the roof if the car is not too far gone structurally to be worth doing.
Barry Carter (Who I understand is expert and well known for restoring older 911's) has kindly offered to take a look to establish the extent of works required to get back to a solid shell as a start point for the rebuild.
The previous owner sold the car with a spare roof and 2.4 engine in parts - so will have to learn how these go back together.
Was wondering if it was possible to get any further history on the car - previous owners / original engine number traced in any way ?

. You will be in very safe hands with Barry . Plenty of cars have looked better than yours , but turned out to still need probo the same amount of work. Sometimes it’s easier if it needs the big panels rather than loads of time being needed with loads of small repair sections.
