Hi Guy/oilman
What's your opinion on using engine flushing oil prior to new oil and filter following a camshaft tensioner upgrade on a 72 2.4T where there is evidence of timing chain chafing on to chain casing when the old tensioner collapsed? there is also the old gasket and sealant residue.
Cheers Maurice

Personally I would not bother, but run a new filter obviously, correct spec oil and run on the drive till hot and Rev it regularly.
The oil will pick any debris left and it will be trapped by the filter.
After 5 mins, change the filter for another and repeat.
Cut the first filter open and spread the filter and look for debris.
If some, after anther 5 mins hot Rev you running remove the second filter and check for debris.
Should be clean.
If so new filter and drive the car.
The filter does the work.
Just my take on your situation.
Other will possibly disagree!
A few years ago I have a huge blow up of my 3.2 racing, engine was full of debris.
After a total diy rebuild I was not sure if I had removed all the debris, and did the above as a precaution, esp after the rebuild cost....
The first filter check showed no debris, but did the second just in case and the cost was £9 for another filter. Second filter was clean.
That was 4 years ago, and the engine is sound as a pound.
Hth, Graham.

I was thinking of trying this in my flat 4 as the filter is useless and it guessed to get only about 7% of the oil over through it!
