Backfire

I'm getting a backfire occasionally on a trailing throttle. The tappers have been checked. Is the cause air ingress somewhere in the exhaust system? What else might be the cause?

Check the exhaust for leaks
Are the carbs balanced
Are the carb butterflies working in unison left to right

Exhaust. I remember when my 912 had a leaky exhaust and would do quite impressive BANG as I slowed down.

Quite the attention grabber

Thanks Louis, I've yet to take a look but that sounds like a good candidate.

Get yourself a nice thick pad of Rag/Whatever and with it in your hand block off the tailpipe of the running engine

At this point, your wife should be under the car and she will identify where the Hissing Exhaust is leaking

Thanks Mike. My wife is always looking for an excuse to grub about on the garage floor, she will be delighted to help.

Funny that my wife is super keen to help on the car too. The more oil, fumes and dirt the better!
