993 and 964 light switch interior pilot bulb

Anybody know??.... The rotary light switch on the 993 and 964 has an internal pilot bulb fitted. Mine does not light up and I can't see how it comes out so I can check it. It lives in the stem of the switch itself rather than in the rotary knob itself which is how the centre dash fog light etc switch pilot bulbs are organised. Anybody know if this pilot bulb should light up anyway or is it just a redundant bulb? Otherwise just how does it come out for checking and replacing?? Phil

It should illuminate. Mine didn’t but you can sort it. The bulb is behind the plastic cover, just peel back the rubber edge, pop out the centre and reveal the bulb. It’s simply a push fit. But a bugger to get out. Snipe nose pliers or similar might get the dead bulb out. Good luck.

Pretty sure it shouldn’t illuminate.. mine doesn’t and I’ve read it was something to do with glare when the lights are on

Question is always asked

Could be a lhd vs rhd ? . I know when I looked into mine not being lit they’re was a huge amount of 964’s that also weren’t lit . All other dash switches were though

Thanks Ferryman....enormous thanks....just the guidance I needed. In fact I found that the rotary switch knob complete with the logo lens pulled off the spindle to more fully expose the bulb. The know needed a bit of a yank. With the bulb more exposed and using a pair of tweezers the bulb came out. It was open circuit so must have worked in the past and therefore intended to be functional ( doubters please note). My plan B was to superglue a pull tab onto the glass done of the bulb but the tweezers worked a treat. Interestingly the Porsche PET diagrams for both the 993 and 964 show definitively that the light switch does NOT have a bulb! The bulb spec is 12V, 1.2W, 5mm wire sided. The Porsche part number I guess is the same as the other dash switch bulbs at 900.631.132.90. Again many thanks. Phil at the Super90 Speedshop where hobbies are serious but nit necessarily profitable!
