Hi All,

Another problem :( :(

Ignition switch has failed. Everything else checked on route by process of illimination. So have conclude it must be key switch contacts. Installing temporary push button to bypass key switch so i can still use.
New switches aren't available as far as I can tell. Does anyone refurbish these ignition switches or is the electrical part the same as fits any other car.
How do you get the switch out? There are two small holes 90 deg apart in the plastic ring that goes round the key switch, are these for grub screws/hex scews?
This is an early switch so does NOT have the steering lock attatchment.
As always any help/advice would be appreciated.
Whilst I can obviosly still use the car with the push button solution (many new cars have this now) it does do anything for originality!!

The large black bezel just unscrews - the holes allow you to get some leverage by inserting a thin screwdriver, etc.

If it turns out that it really is kaput I'd be inclined to search for/buy a replacement Bosch ignition switch that has the same (or close) terminal layout on the back.

When I had a similar problem with my Giulietta Sprint last year I sourced a new Bosch ign switch from Germany for ~ £25 which was a fraction of the prices quoted by Alfa parts specialists.

I took my 67 ingnition switch apart and fixed the contacts. It’s some years ago now but from memory I used some normal modern electrical plug components filed down to size and shape. It’s never let me down since (touch wood). Here are some photos from the time of the repair.
