Random question - does anyone have an outlaw-style 356 Coupe they could measure the height of for me? I have standard heights etc from google but wondered how much lower an outlaw style car would be.. alternatively if anyone knows roughly how far (sensibly - not “stanced” ) you could lower a 356 Coupe that would also work..
Just trying to get an idea of roof height for packaging purposes!

A 2" drop involves major surgery for the back end. The front is fairly straight forwards but significantly lowering the rear of the car requires cutting the loop and reorganising all sorts of ancilleries,

I would say a more usual outlaw drop would be 1.5" off what you have as a standard height.

Isn't the height up to you to a certain extent? If it is for your planned kit/rep, you probably have more say in the final height than you would have in a real 356. Your choice of wheels will also have a big influence too. My C has 6x15 fuch on the back with 195/65, from memory it is lowered 1 spline. Fronts are 15x5.5 fuch with 165/65 the factory 'beam' adjusted to its lowest piont. These rub slightly on full lock. , I guess the car is 30mm lower than stock?

'bout 30 cms is going to be your max. You can go lower but then you start looking like those stupid dub VWs with back wheels looking like they are about to collapse. I run 6 x 16's with 45 section rubber with no rubbing on inners or arches.

That's exactly what I mean about the rear wheels and re the lid, it's what all the boys in Italy do to their bog standard Fiat 600's

I'm with james - the olive colour one does look cool did i read somewhere that car had been channeled and body dropped? presumably before the prices went up! that said, i think andy's car looks about spot on for driving about. i want it to look purposeful / sporty but not be a car you have to "route plan" for to avoid speedhumps!

Main reason for my question is less about cars and more about ramps - trying to do some basic maths to figure out if i can fit three cars in my double garage.. ..looks like 3 into 2 does go, even at standard ride height (just). And while "my car" will be a rep not a real one, I want to try and keep to a real stance/outward appearance and not go mental (either way) in terms of ride height, tyres, etc., etc..

That does look rather lovely.

A cautionary tale though, a friend spent a lot of time (and it has to be said money),
buggering about lowering a caddy van, rear axle goes in upside down, front suspension lowered but also alters steering geometry......
Result? Friend hated how it drove and sold it pretty sharpish to a young lad who thought it looked “cool”.

My own super 90 is fitted with softer rear torsion bars and a camber compensator. This factory set up has a degree of adjustability. My 5.5” rims are just up inside the rear arch lip and the front is down too.

I would say it looks about right, but there is negative camber. Having said that though, the toe in on the rear must be set to take this into account as the tyre wear is lovely and even on all four wheels after six years and six thousand miles!!!!! In the dry the car is unshakeable, but when it rains
