Sold the Boxster and bought a 944 S2! And I'm lovin' it!
As the titel says: I've sold my 2000 986 Boxster S...
It somehow never ticked all the boxes for me and I lost all interest when I blew up the engine 2 years ago. Although I replaced the engine and the car drove well again, it just didn't do it for me.
15 years ago I had a 944 S ('16 Ventiler') and I loved that car, so when I sold the Boxster I decided to go 'transaxle' again. I wanted a 951, a 944 S2 or a 968.
I searched for quite some time and even went to Germany to check out cars that were sold there.
Then I found this one and I knew it would be mine!
I just love it. The car is fully original and has the rare color AZ3T (Zyclam Rot Perl).
It has the following options:
031, 197, 220, 241, 424, 490, 605,650 and 990...
I think the 944 is a Klassiker too...

That looks very very nice Antoine. Love the colour.

Black.
The dashboard, steering wheel and carpet is black.
The seats and and rear are Black cloth (Porsche Script).
it's all whole, just a bit unevenly faded...

Looks great Antoine, that colour shows what a complex surface it has. I've long fancied an early car, but in guards + on fuchs. I guess you'll be keeping it original?

Re: Sold the Boxster and bought a 944 S2! And I'm lovin' it!
had 2 for a while now 8 years + great cars.. One Coupe one Cab.
I just find them a great comfortable drive and enough poke for what I want. Plus I can stick the kids in the back.
I knew the tide would change with these in terms of respect on the market and that has now..
I'm currently looking at a 997 but already I think I am more drawn to wanting to own a 911 again yet the 944 does every thing I want.. and keeps money in the bank.. so it's hard to say why move when I do so little miles in them anyway.
Great colour choice BTW!

Re: Sold the Boxster and bought a 944 S2! And I'm lovin' it!
Yes, because this car deserves to be kept original...
I'm the third owner since new: the first owner died in 2012 (82 years old) and his son wanted to register the car in his name (in the Netherlands the car and license plate belong together: the vin, license plate number and registration papers (on which both are stated) must be matching), but they couldn't find the documentation (and more importantly the papers you'll need to be able to register a car to your name). So they asked the Dutch DMV (RDW) for copies. To prevent that the same number plate would illegally be placed on another car (944) the new owner had to have new number plates made with the 'copy code' on it: that's the little '1' you can see on the number plate This 'copy code' is also officially added in the documentation papers that go with the car. So in the documentation papers there's the vin, the license plate number and the copy code 1.
The son drove the car sporadically and decided that a 944 wasn't his cup of tea, so he parked it in 2016 in a garage.
I've bought the car from this son...
I like to keep this car preserved as it is (factory stock).
The only thing I'm not sure of, are the seats. I have a problem with the 'regular' Porsche seats (that haven't changed much over the years); I don't like how they sit and there is (in my opinion) a significant lack of lateral support. So perhaps I will go for 'turbo seats', or even ClubSport seats (I think it would look great to put in those hardcover seats with the backs sprayed in the color of the car)...

Re: Sold the Boxster and bought a 944 S2! And I'm lovin' it!
It looks a very nice 944.
I went out in one when new, a suppliers had just p/x his 9024 turbo for a 944 and was over the moon.
It was a very nice sports car with a real 'GT' feel to it, a real road trip car.
I also understand the Boxster thing, you have to be in the right frame of mind for one which I am, but the 944 is a perfect classic with real usability.
Hard-backed seats sound perfect with the originals tucked away.

We have just got a 986 James, it’s not the best example but good fun. TJ is using it as her daily, can’t see them getting much cheaper. Strangely, low mileage, rarely used ones, could give more issues with IMS. Your welcome to have a go, you know we have a few good roads up here.hot66 wrote:Very nice looking car .
