Hi,

68 912 - I have TDC for piston #1, and the rotor arm facing the notch on the distributor, I have started to check the valves. The gap on the intake valve is correct, but I cannot get the feeler gauge in between the gap on the exhaust valve. Also when I turn the belt both wheels are turning but the valves on both sides of the engine ( intake and exhaust ) do not move in or out but when I started to do it, they did. Also when I try to undo the locking nut on the exhaust valve on number 1 and move the adjusting screw, it will not adjust the clearance - but the screw moves. Thanks for your help.

Sorry, just read it is a 4 cylinder, not a 6.

Hello Lawrence, I don't know how familiar you are with setting the valve clearances, here's the procedure for a 356 engine which is similar and may help.

This is the firing order, arrow showing forward.
