I've read various threads and most of the info on this but still didn't find a definitive answer..... I'm going to add full flow oil filtering to my 356 C. I'm aware of the the PreMat system but i have a mechanical tacho which i would like to keep.
Has anybody fitted one recently? Which supplier? And where to fit the filter housing?
Thinking about something like this but using original cover and adding a fitting somehow

I don’t think you can retain the mechanic tachometer, but you can have it converted to electronic by JDO instruments. It’s costs about £100 and works well. I had my Healey converted.

I have a full flow oil system and retain the mechanical tach so it must be a possibility....

It is not something that we keep on a regular basis but - last time I looked we had an Oil Pump Cover with both an Oil Filter take-off and Mech. Tac. take off

I've chosen this system for my 912 engine rebuild...



I think Andy Prill uses it on his builds.

I'm not an expert by any stretch so am sure others will have views that may carry more weight.

Thanks all for the replies....Ollie, so that way you don't have to touch the oil pump cover or drill the third piece?? I believe Mike (mycar) has the same system on his engine??

No worries, i agree it seams the easiest and neatest way of doing things.....it concerns me that its next to the exhaust but plenty are in use with no issues. My engines apart so have time to decide which way to go.

Looks like you've been delving into this subject Simon so no doubt you've come across this photo of my engine showing the oil entry point. If you need more shots of the installation let me know.

I did Mike, if you have time to post other pics that would be great, mainly where you have the filter housing fitted.

I'll put the car on the lift this week and try and show where the pipes go.
