It's such a shame they didn't make it a proper running, driving machine.

Yes Roy it does look good. I was talking yesterday to the man here who owns a 1951, reportedly the first RHD car, as he was sitting next to it.

Wouldn't mind seeing that too.

Merv,

When my brother bought his 1951 split screen in the mid 60's it was already converted to RHD. But much later in the mid 70's he obtained from AFN the last original factory pre-A RHD 356 dash panel. This he fitted and it all worked well. It was a bolt on item from memory. But re-wiring some of it was not that easy. Still his VW original crash box worked but his car was much better when we replaced that item with a full syncro box from our 1952 car.
The front brakes though were converted from the early drums to ATE discs. Who ever did it never really got that right. Pedal pressure seemed wrong to me although they did work of course.

I read somewhere that Australia had the earliest RHD cars, Our 52 was original RHD thought that was early!!

I think that copy of Porsche no.1 will be at Goodwood this year. They will have to push it on site I guess.
