As above really.. if the answer is porsche I’m going to look like a dick but whatever

Also any pointers on which to get? I believe they’re interchangeable from about 2.2 to 3.2 but not sure if there were improvements and changes in part numbers as they went along..
Appreciate they’re not “cheap” so thanks in advance helping me get the right ones

Sorry, for the rocker arms in the valve train to adjust valve clearances
There are quite a few aftermarket ones available but not sure if they’re any cop - with so many parts for older cars being farmed out now I wasn’t sure if there’s a good or bad aftermarket option (or if they’re all bad). Also who makes them for Porsche (if they’re cheaper direct - ie febi, mahle, etc) or if there’s some exotic option that’s similar price to Porsche
I’ve found they’re all interchangeable on engines from 2.2 to 3.2 but wanted to check if part numbers changed and improvements introduced at some period, or if Porsche got it right first time / did rolling revision changes to one part number as they evolved
There’s so much scaremongering on US forums about anything that isnt made in Germany or ‘murica it’s hard to pick the facts from the trump-esque propaganda

I don't think Porsche has upgraded them (valve/rocker adjuster screw) - they still use the same part number - 901.105.370.02 - that was used in 1965.
I've never had to buy/change any but I'd check with someone like Mike Bainbridge or Chris Flavell, etc about quality variation between suppliers.

Thanks Andy..
I don’t have any at all at the moment - they’re for a type 4 engine which normally uses the solid type ones, but “while I’m in there..”
It’s a pretty simple upgrade as I’ll be setting valvetrain geometry, etc anyway so figured I might as well do it right first time and put the Porsche ones in there.. will help keep the forces down, especially with the uprated cam

An interesting topic and there are some variations between several different suppliers.
The issue about which type of adjuster to use does have an impact on valve stem and guide wear and increases in friction between the ball and cup will affect the side loads generated during normal operation.
It is well accepted that 'genuine' Porsche parts are higher quality than many aftermarket replacements but this situation could change as Porsche no longer use these parts on their own production line and perhaps use different suppliers to those used in the past.
I think Febi are also reasonably good and are generally available.
We have also tried some adjusters that are made in Germany (see above) and they have also been quite good and we do have some stock.
We have also designed a 'lightened' part which we are just starting to manufacture.

Thanks for the info - good to know..
I’m just starting to clean-up / do machining and things prior to reassembly so will drop you a message when I’m ready to buy some.. I have 1.7 litre rockers so will grind them down ready and then get in touch. Not sure I’ll benefit much from lightened ones in my build but can discuss and see what you think
Just a heads up - lots of people seem to switch to 1.7 rockers and “porsche” adjusters for type 4 builds but there’s nothing available for 1.8 or 2.0 rockers? If you’re manufacturing your own it might be worth doing some bigger ones that would work on 1.8 / 2.0 rockers too? Not sure what the uptake would be but might be an opportunity for you as 1.7 rockers get harder to come by.. (think they’re m10 rather than m8)

We are making the lightened parts to match the Forged Rockers we have made to suit FIA 2.0 litre engines and we have already made Ti Lock Nuts.
The guy who make the Beetle Rockers does have an M10 version available and I can source these if needed.

Ah that’s good to know.. I had 1.7 rockers anyway so good to go with the m8 ones
