Have finally been ordered. Ssp make a gas burner wheel in an offset of et 35 so i bought a set today.

Now it's taken me 2 years to decide and commit to wheels, i now need tyres.

I've been looking at sizes 165 80 15 to 185 80 15.

Buggered if i can choose.

So 15 x 5.5 rims. I'm looking for a good road tyre, summer tyre likely to be my preference.

What are you running on this size rim and what do you / don't you like about it?

Nice choice, I do like a GB on a 914 but then I would.

Here's how mine used to look.

I was running 195/55 with mine but would have preferred them slightly bigger. If I'd have replaced them I'd have gone with 195/60 which seems to be the most popular choice.

Nice looking car, especially the wheels.

I've been looking at 185 65 15's. They seem pretty close to 165 80 15. although i'm still researching. The golf has avon zt5 all around and i like them a lot.

Also have a set of these wheels to fit some day. Think they suit the 914 really well - what colour is your car?

We run 185/65 x 15" on our cars. Cars turn in, steer and handle very well. Vresdestien Sportrac 5 is a good choice too.

I'll check out the vredsteins. Great info on the tyre size handling thanks.

The wheels arrived today and i'm glad i spent the extra. They look so much nicer than the replica fuch with black petals. I 'm astonished how light they are too. Buy new have guarantee was the main motive here. I found a set on ebay thanks to a link in my want ad. Tyres were to big for me and i just thought for a few more pounds i don't need to refurb and get the guarantee.

Very pleased with this purchase.

I have a set of valves with these rims that are a metal screw/nut fixing with rubber collars to seal the air.

i haven't used this type before. Any one run this type now or previously? Can you give me some info as to there usefulness / reliability?

I had four new tyres fitted today, I went with the Avon zt5's.

The valves I been assured are fine for a while. They've seen them fitted to a few sets of wheels so I left them on.

They're not going on until I've repaired the blemishes that have occurred to the paint during rebuild.
