Tell us a little about your car / cars

Hi all fully paid up member, been meaning to sort it out sooner after all the advice I received, but been away. Anyway my wife and I only got into the Porsche last year when we went to a Sunday morning grathering in our series 1 Landy, there iparked side by side where two, quite rusty could have been 912 s or 911 didn’t know didn’t care, their shape and colours where just heart stopping. My wife suddenly became a petrolhead and we know we had to have one. Starting looking online for a 912 being closer to our budget, after what seemed like weeks of looking we found a company in Essex.

To cut a very long story short we bought a LHD 911T Irish green with Tan interior, the colour combination set our hearts racing just looking at it, of course the budget was blown, anyway sadly this car was returned and we had a refund.

Not sure what happened to the budget but we have ended up with a 1971 white 911T RHD. Which as been in storage now for quite some time, we have had a service and tappets done but there is still starting problems, I have replaced plugs dist cap, rotor arm, and coil. Took it back to the service guys who found carbs flooded and a loose wire. So yesterday gave it a run out and found it difficult to start after stopping for fuel and again when I had parked up for a few minutes, also a low rpm a slight popping and back firing. Today it did start after some time, then later it fire a couple of times and I could smell fuel, however I couldn’t get it running.

So now I think it’s a carb set up problem, while I have reading and watching YouTube I don’t think I am brave enough to have a go myself, so if anyone knows of a good carb guy, please let me know. Thanks
