chaps

I am doing some research on a 914-6 here in Sydney and the owner seems to think its a Crayford car.
I received a list from Barrie at the Crayford club but it only gives the Crayford numbers not the Porsche chassis numbers.
Is there a list of Porsche's chassis numbers for Crayford conversions ?
There seem to be 11 and only one came to AUS.
Who is the Crayford expert here to confirm or deny ??

TIA
Dennis

Hi Dennis,
according to the invoices I obtained from Crayfords years ago, you are correct, there are only 11.

I had a long chat with the owner of Crayford's, Mr David McMullan, a year or 2 ago when he verified that my car (a 1969 1.7lt in orange) was the one he bought in Germany--as Porsche UK would'nt sell him a car, and brought it back to his workshop where it was the first one converted to RHD.

Whilst at the same meeting his top upholstery guy informed me that the pictures of a car under construction in the small brochure was indeed mine.

Mine is now white, and has been for many years, and was raced for many years .

So there are very few of these cars still in existance.

I knew of one other in the UK in need of restoration, and I understand that another has been re-imported from Aussie--I think, or was it Singapore.Crap memory!!

I have a few details on other cars so maybe if you pm the chassis number to me I'll see if I can cross reference with anything I have.

Hope this helps.
all the best
Ian
