Re: Stolen !
I have a lot of sympathy for the owner but I can't understand for the life of me
how anybody thinks a 911 parked on the side of the road in, or around a major
city isn't likely to get nicked! They are one of the easiest cars to steal that were
ever built. Would any one in their right mind leave a secure suitcase with a sign
on it saying there is 40 or 50 grand inside it chained to a lamp post?
I'm sorry if the owner reads this and I hope he gets the car back but it's the truth!
I'm running for cover!

OUCH
The guy fitted a steering lock, so was aware and as a result took action.
Sadly 911 thefts seem to be on the up
Just hope the car turns up before it ends up in Eastern Europe, Africa or Broken for spares in Essex

Re: Stolen !
Or maybe it is just a nice pic of the car from another date for purpose of detail?
However, leaving any old 911 is a real risk.
Blame the value hype over the last 10 years for its popularity.
We all pay in the end.
Good luck, but I expect it is really gone.

Re: Stolen !
The PH post says stolen from a Knightsbridge street......
Had a steering wheel bar fitted, but I suspect these are only a mid deterrent to professional thieves.
I suppose if you’re parking regularly in the one location, the risk is higher .

Re: Stolen !
Provided it was not put on a trailer and covered up, there are enough ANPR cameras, especially in central London to get a picture of who was driving it, when and where, and possibly a route nationally. Its not hard to interrogate the system, just whoever is dealing with the theft to have some common sense, and a sense of pride to catch the thieves.

Re: Stolen !
hacksaw though the steering wheel rim either side of the bar and it’s gone - steering wheels are cheap and easily replacedHad a steering wheel bar fitted, but I suspect these are only a mid deterrent to professional thieves.

It is sad to hear that he spoke to a business down the road, CCTV it had been driven past at 12:38am.Nine One One wrote:Provided it was not put on a trailer and covered up, there are enough ANPR cameras, especially in central London to get a picture of who was driving it, when and where, and possibly a route nationally. He contacted police with it and they had already closed the case and issued a claim number to his insurance.
His pay out is £31,000

Re: Stolen !
My 911 SC Targa was stolen on 4 Jan from a secure underground parking lot in Johannesburg. It was in full view of a car guard. From the cctv timeline it appears that they took 30 mins to gain entry and start the car.

His last valuation was in Feb 2017 and the payout was "market valuation".kvinyl wrote:Was it a genuine 930? Why such a low payout?
However since last year he had a rebuilt engine, stainless steel exhaust etc.. But now he has to prove this has increased the value of the car and he has to show that he couldn't buy a similar car to his own for that price. He is seeking assistance it seems from another Porsche enthusiast who specialises in insurance.
