Mid-Job SOS call - Lightweight starter motor

Hi all

A little urgent emergency advise required for an electrical numpty please......

I'm fitting a Powerlite lightweight starter motor and have physically completed this, attached the two fatter cables to the stud (as was the case with original starter motor) and the little wire to the spade terminal (as was the case with original). Electrically everything I'm sure is as should be/was.

Upon attempting to reconnect the battery terminals I'm getting horrendous sparks and therefore can't reconnect batteries.

Any ideas on what's gone wrong would be very gratefully received?

Thanks

Ok sorted....

So this numpty mounted the two fat cables and manouvered the starter motor into place - in doing so one of the fat cable mounting eyelets (ie that fits over the stud on the starter motor) had been bent downwards such that the end crimped onto the fat cable contacted the starter motor body!

Lesson learnt....

Regards

Don’t feel too bad - think I did the same - not helped by the fact that the cables join in a different place and had to pull one cable into place
