Barbie has her own room

My Oz RHD 356a will be arriving in the UK on the 17th Feb so next challenge will be getting her registered.....any advice greatly received?

Otherwise any thoughts on what value I should use for insurance purposes?

Martin,

Insurance value now thats a difficult one to answer. From the one photo it looks nice and straight. If its a jump in and drive anywhere car and its original spec, then the base figure probably starts at £80k and goes up in stages to £140k Then there are people who ask up to £200k + for a standard 356.

Of course anyone can ask what they want, doesn't mean it will sell or its worth that amount.

I look at prices of course, and wonder. You can see auction prices which prove something I suppose, but the condition of a 356A coupe in normal or super guise really determines its value. With restoration costs now so high people must add that into any overall cost to try to get their money back if they want to sell.

So thats how a basket case or pile of boxes now seems to equate to 30-40k and the restoration adds the 80 -100k.

I therefore cannot advise you really. I suppose its all down to market forces and how fully original the car is and its history from the first owner.

Pleased I only paid £440- for mine though. Hope your car runs well over here for you.

She's a solid straight rust free driver with a lifetime of patina and a few cosmetic knocks / scratches etc......I'm thinking £100k would be a safe bet until I can get a professional valuation.

Polygon are in that area and do all the fancy transportation.

You now need a MOT and relatively easy to register car.

I think you are pretty safe with that figure its not a ridiculous one if your car is a really nice original version and its covering well all your costs. Market dictates doesn't it.
